PAHA Charity in Action – Feeding the Homeless

PAHA was moved to action when we saw this man, sitting outside in the middle of a cold winter night. This man had recently lost everything. His parents died and he lost his job and family home. He had hitch-hiked all the way from Mpumalanga (SA), to the Free State (SA) in hopes of finding a job. With the recent Covid pandemic, and the closing down of many small businesses, especially in the Welkom area, as well as the high unemployment rates already decimating the economy of South Africa, this man ended up on the streets.

This is why the PAHA initiative of Project Housing is so imperative. We are seeing a big rise in homeless people. Without help, we will eventually reach a crisis point of no return. People always imagine that these scenarios will never happen to them, but we are all just one or two paychecks away from being in this same position. Any of us can end up in this dire circumstance, unless we all stand together and help each other out in times of desperation and need.
